My original intention had been to crop the photo, figure out a border color that would turn to a shade of Blue when negated. I tried a Red and settled on the Palegoldenrod. Before Negating, I Equalized and I noticed the photo came out quite a bit different than when I had done it with my usual black border. I don't know how I never noticed it before, but depending on the color of the border, different ranges of color can be brought out in the image. My Negating idea was forgotten as I proceeded to experiment with Equalize to make sure I wasn't imagining things.

I made a couple of samples below to show what different paths a colored border and equalization can go; and then by cropping, I can always get rid the border and replace it with a better color once I've gotten the desired effects.

I played around with the green bordered one, cropped off the green then added a new, raised, darkcyan border. I didn't quite get the 3D effect of the first one, but I love the colors.

HUE

In the Art-4-All NG, Darlene Way came up with the somehow overlooked idea of using negatives as well as positives when doing hues. I decided to try it out on the shaded green bordered example from above. Huge differences!

Going just a lttle further......
I thought I'd check out higher numbers

For the heck of it I also tried 30,000

The negative version was almost identical. I guess I finally went too far!

Warning: My tutorials are experimental works in progress. I will add to them as I learn more about the combinations of effects I am trying to describe and try to refine my techniques and explanations, There are two other factors that are important here.

1. All images are NOT created equal. What works with one, may not work with another.

2. Things change at Image Magick from time to time, sometimes radically. I try to keep these pages updated.
