Murphy's Life

PROUD TO SERVE

I'm adding often RELOAD for latest updates.

HELLO and WELCOME

Hi my name is Murphy.
This is my little place on the web. In the 82 years I've been alive I never dreamed I would say those words.
I always thought webs were for spiders.

This page is in its baby stage. It will continue to grow. Please feel welcome to come back any time.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I was born on January 11 1919. On a farm near Franklin Vermont. This is literal my sisters (2) brothers (3) and I were all born on the farm and not in a hospital. I am the youngest of six. I have 4 sons, 3 daughters,22 grand children and 3 great grand children.

I found out very early in life that hard work can bring great joy. Tilling and planting watching life spring from the soil. The smell of the earth and the corn after a spring shower. This is the greatest perfume of all.

MY FATHERS WISDOM

God has given us many things. Family and good friends. Strong backs and fruitful land. Gods gifts are meant to be shared. A part of our crop was always given to those with none. When a neighbor couldn't till, plant or bring in their crop. Its the communities job to help.
I saw this first hand many times. I remember clearly at age 9 my father gathered men from all over to help a friend who had lost his 2 sons. Over a dozen men came to harvest. My mom and all the ladies cooked a grand meal. Even The children worked. Fixing fences, tending the yard and watching the littlest ones so the parents could work.

MY DISCOVERY

I found I was able to repair things. It didn't matter what. Wood or metal. God had given me a gift. I loved to fix things. A chair, plow or truck. It didn't matter. Joy comes from doing what you can do. And not griping about what you can't!

MY WIFE

I met my wife at 16 she was 14. Lovely with bright red irish hair. We became great friends. A strong and willful lady even in her younger days. She could be found with her brothers trousers on in the fields helping.
We married in 1940 and built a home on my fathers land. Many happy years we spent together. Raising our family making it as strong as the great oak tree that still grows in the front yard. She went to live with God in 1991. The cancer took her from our family early. Though she will always live on in our memories and the faces of her children and grandchildren.

HONORING GRACE

WWII

That's world war 2 if you failed history.
I joined the army in 1941. I felt it was my duty to protect my country. I was stationed in Germany as a mechanic. Little did I know then mechanics have to fight also. I saw many good men die and men who would be changed forever by the hell we were in. As well as bonds of friendship that would endure through the years. I returned home in 1943 with a new plan for my life.

With out this Lady's Help this page would have never come to be!
