TRASH FACTS
As of January 2012
Brookhaven now has 2 community
dumpsters.The map above shows their location in the overflow lot
between buildings 4 and 5, just south of the circle.
The one(marked in blue)is for trash and the other(marked in green) is for recycling.
They are from Deffenbaugh and I have provided a link below so you can go to Deffenbaugh's Website.

Trash pickup is 3 times a week on Monday, Wednesday &
Fridays
The recycling bin will be emptied 2 times a month.
Holidays will sometimes throw the schedule off a little.
Deffenbaugh usually mentions this on their website.
There are lists of acceptible items and non-acceptible items on each container.
PLEASE DO NOT FILL THE CONTAINER WITH FURNITURE, MATTERESSES,OR ANY OTHER LARGE ITEMS!!.
The City of Merriam has 2 big item pick-ups every year.
PLEASE WAIT FOR THESE EVENTS.
They have one in the spring, one in the fall. You will be notified when they are to occur.
There are several very good reasons for this policy.
Filling the containers with large items forces the other residents to put trash outside the container(or keep it in their houses).

Deffenbaugh will not pick them up, nor will they empty the dumpster at all. This leaves the community unable to utilize the dumpster further, without calling for (and paying for) an extra pickup.
1. Brookhaven has a bad rat problem.
Since the flood
a few
years ago.
Trash sitting out for days will draw the rats.
2.
Kansas is windy and trash has a tendency to
blow
all over
the place. It blows into the parking lot
and into your neighbors
trees, bushes, etc.
3. There is no maintainance man.
No one whose job
it is
to pick up
debris
If there is trash blown into your yard
or parking
space, please be a good neighbor and pick it up.
Regardless of whether the wind blew
it there,
or some thoughtless person threw it there, it is still an eyesore and makes Brookhaven look "tacky".

You should also be aware of the fact that,
should you need to dispose of larger than normal items, or trash loads.WAIT FOR THE CITY BIG TRASH PICKUP
OTHER DUMPSTERS
If you are going to need a dumpster installed,
for a remodeling project,permission must be granted
from the board and your neighbors.
Dumpsters take up alot of room and often interfere with parking.
The board, and your neighbors must determine where the best place to
install this dumpster will be.
If the parking blocks need moving or grass needs replacing, this will be done
at your expense.
