Revisiting something that I came up with in 2002
in order to add to my Imagery Portfolio
Back then, I had not been Extreme Imaging for too long a time.
Art 4 All Newsgroup's, Susanna, being a person very drawn to literature, had various literary activities offered.
Dojean, who oversees the Ng,
was helping me to learn Extreme Imagery
as well as my taking Class.
That is when it dawned on me, "Why not write Haiku along with Imaging?"
Explaining the wonderful art of
HAIKU
It was nothing new to me, having written alot of it in school. However, the "twist" came to me....
Why not Extreme Image, write my Haiku and Annotate it onto my image?

DEFINITION OF HAIKU: HAIKU can be dated back all the way to the ancient civilizations,,,originating in Persia,,and moving it's way across India and up towards China and then Japan, where it stayed as a traditional art form in both countries. HAIKU is a formatted poetic exercise (or now informal is acceptable to be addressed later) a way to EXPRESS ONESELF One can write about FEELINGS, NATURE, SOCIAL COMMENTARY Whatever you care to do. The "old school" HAIKU format was broken down into a pattern of SYLLABLES. 5 - 7 - 5 is the "rule of thumb" formula, representing the pattern of 5 syllables, then 7 syllables, then 5 syllables. 5 syllables used for 1st line of poem. 7 syllables used for 2nd line of poem 5 syllables used for 3rd line of poem. (counting suffixes ie. "es" or "s" on the end of a word is disputable. Some say to count it as a syllable, the modern approach says you don't have to so it is up to you...) There are other loose formulas, consisting of 3 - 5 - 3 and also Ancient rhythm of 5 - 7 - 5 - 7 - 7 ***DON'T LET NUMBERS SCARE YOU!!! They are ONLY syllables. RULES WERE MEANT TO BE BENT Since this is YOUR Imaging and YOUR art, can you come up with maybe a NEW SEQUENCE OF SYLLABLES? Here are some explanations defining HAIKU if you care to read them. EXTREME IMAGING HAIKU Once you are familiar with writing it, HAIKU should take you all of 1 minute to learn. Just put down what your thoughts are!!! Now what you want to do is to find a LANDSCAPE,GRAPHIC, BACKGROUND (Oriental,countryside,whatever you choose) HEY,,, HOW ABOUT FANTASY? Planetaryscapes, Surreal, make your own background even, that EXPRESSES what you wrote OR by Imaging it, turn it into your own expression by writing your HAIKU to fit your Image. Image fits your HAIKU HAIKU fits your image It's all up to you...
