Hi all...Scarlet Pirate Voyager here bringing you another Extreme Imaging tutorial/technique to use with your imaging. This one is going to be alot of FUN and VERY EASY to use so I am sure you will be able to add it to your imaging repertoire for years to come....

Below is an explanation, followed by some examples with steps.
DO YOU NOT PARTICULARLY CARE FOR FINDING AND HAVING TO BRING AN ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND TO IMAGE MAGICK? ME EITHER..
DO YOU NOT PARTICULARLY LIKE HAVING TO OUTPUT AND SAVE, THEN BACK UP AND IMAGE? ME EITHER
DO YOU NOT PARTICULARLY LIKE DEALING WITH HAVING TO FIGURE OUT, NOT ONLY "TRANSFORM/SHEAR" NUMBERS BUT ALSO HOW MUCH TO "TRANSFORM/ROLL" A GIVEN PART ACROSS THE MATTE? ME EITHER
Sooooo....This is going to be a FALSE or FAUX SHEAR & ROLL tutorial/technique, yet giving you somewhat the same results as the real thing. It is not always suggested to short-cut but, sometimes, one has to image just for the FUN of it. I think that this is one of those ways to do just that!!!
Grab a graphic of your choice. ( I like to use faces or graphics with a large central figure)
INPUT INTO IMAGE MAGICK
You can do anything at all you like to , in terms of imaging your graphic, at this point OR do nothing at all.
When you are ready for your FAUX SHEAR & ROLL steps,
go to COMPOSITE
INPUT THE SAME GRAPHIC YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH
Depending on where your central figure is located, is where you now have to decide where you are going to put your SHEAR & ROLL "pieces" which are also the same graphic
PICK EITHER SOME CORNERS OR SIDES AND SET YOUR GRAVITY TO REFLECT THEM For instance, if you want your "pieces" to go in the opposing upper left and lower right hand sides, then enter setting GRAVITY= NORTHWEST first.
PUT IN YOUR OFFSET NUMBERS THAT EQUAL ONE HALF THE HEIGHT AND WIDTH OF YOUR GRAPHIC (Using minus ie. -100)
CHOOSE YOUR COMPOSITE EFFECT I usually use COMPOSITE/DIFFERENCE but experiement.
SET YOUR ROTATE TO HOW YOU WANT YOUR "PIECES" PLACED ie. 60 or -60 or 240 or -240 or (for sides) 45 or -45 (or whatever angle you want)
CLICK "TO COMPOSITE"
REPEAT STEPS ONLY CHANGING "GRAVITY" TO ANOTHER POSITION, IN THIS CASE SOUTHEAST So that you have opposing corners.
CLICK "TO COMPOSITE"
FINISH UP ANYWAY YOU WANT TO, ESPECIALLY USING DECORATE AND ANNOTATE
YOU ARE DONE!!!
Now, how easy was that?
The hardest part of this whole thing is doing the math of one half of width and height.
If you can image, you certainly can do that!!! LOLOL

EXAMPLE

INPUT TO IMAGE MAGICK APPROXIMATE HEIGHT AND WIDTH WAS 180X190 SO I USED GRAVITY= NORTHEAST OFFSET= -100-100 ROTATE= -60 COMPOSITE/DIFFERENCE
CLICK "COMPOSITE" REPEAT STEPS ONLY CHANGING GRAVITY TO SOUTHWEST,
ENHANCE/SATURATE=130,
ENHANCE/BRIGHT=125,
RESIZE,
DECORATE 5X5+2+2 DARKMAGENTA,
ANNOTATE. OUTPUT@ QUALITY=25,

EXAMPLE

NEGATE/CHANNEL RED,
GO TO COMPOSITE GRAVITY= NORTHWEST OFFSET= -200-200
ROTATE= -60 CLICK "COMPOSITE REPEAT STEPS AGAIN CHANGING ONLY GRAVITY TO SOUTHWEST ENHANCE/SIGMOIDAL CONTRAST= 3X60%, ENHANCE/SATURATE=130 ENHANCE/BRIGHT=120, DECORATE 7X7 RAISE, ANNOTATE, OUTPUT@ QUALITY=25

NOTE: You can also bring in a background or make your own, output it and save to use as Compositing Factor.

Try different areas on your matte, even the inside, not necessarily the corners/sides but be sure to check your GRAVITY and OFFSET settings. Also, try different types of COMPOSITES for a really different look.
