Plot
A young couple move into a house where the previous family had recently been murdered. Once the family moves in tension builds as a priest arrives to bless the house and finds himself blocked by a malevolent force. The little girl begins to enjoy an invisible playmate, the family dog whines and scratches at the basement wall . the father slacks off from work and grows increasingly obessed with the house and his wife, troubled by his strange outbursts of violence discovers his uncanny resemblance to the original killer. The plot is standard haunted housestuffwith a weak ending.
Review
The movie strays frequently from the so called true events adding to the confusion as to what is fact / and or fiction. The opening sequence is good in it's attempt to characterize the demonic house, or to suggest an elemental quality to the murders that are taking place as the film begins. The thunder and flashes of light seem to co-exist with the gun shots that kill the whole family ( all but the killer that is ), while the two lit windows at the top of the house stand out like blood shot eyes.
Even though the movie is slow at times and I tended to lose interest about at the half way mark, I still enjoyed it very much. There are some harrowing moments as the couple experience ghostly phenomena and a chilling religious subplot unfold. The movie does not capture the terror of Anson's narrative in the book. Good score by lalo Schifrin and a good supporting cast.
Rating : 4 out of 5
My kids made me watch it yesterday after days of argueing that I didn't want to. This movie actually scared me as a kid, I didn't like the flying monkies. Plot
In Kansas young Dorothy ( Judy Garland ) runs away from her troubles and is taken away by a tornado to the brighlty colored land of "Oz". She encounters a talking scarecrow, a tin man, a lion and the Wizard who all resemble people she knows and loves in Kansas. To return home she must outsmart the Wicked Witch.
Review
A classic, produced by Melvin LeRoy and directed by Victor Fleming is still very enjoyable. Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West is excellent. The makeup and effects are great. I read somewhere ( I think in the liner notes for the 50th Anniversary edition ) that Victor Fleming originally wanted Shirley Temple to play the part of Dorothy. I can't imagine the Wizard of Oz with her as Dorothy, it really would have been a horror film, she's sickenly sweet. The lavish sets and the musical numbers make this one a timeless classic. Filmed in 1939 it stood the test of time and held the attention of my two kids who can't see to sit long enough for anything. The flying monkies scared me when I was younger and I did shutter just a bit when saw them again this time.
Rating : What else can I say other than it's "a classic". This one gets 5 out of 5!!

If you're a fan of Japanese anime you should enjoy this movie. Contains extreme violence and nudity ( my kind of cartoon ) and borrows freely from other anime and conventional horror films. I'm not that familiar with a lot of Anime but enjoyed this one. The visual effects are imaginative and some of the artwork is stylized.
Rating : It seems like there isn't a movie that I don't like ( lol ). This one gets 3 out of 5!!!
Tag Line .... Plot
Everyone in the small town of Plainfield, Wisconsin thought that Ed was strange. In a farmhouse filled with the stench of death, tormented with years of family abuse, Ed commits acts of violence against his victims.
Review
The movie is slow at times and it does have elements of Psycho, Deranged and Texas Chainsaw Massacre mixed in thru out it's 88 minutes. Steve Railsback is very convincing in the title roll. There's no bloody meat hooks or a chainsaw wielding maniac on the loose but Ed does try on a few of the victims noses and dance around in the skin of his victims.
Tag Line #2: Before there was a term "Serial Killer," there was Ed.
Rating : I liked this one and give it 3½ out of 5.
Now that my interest is peaked, I'm off to find the documentary ... Ed
Gein: American Maniac.
A compilation of Universal's Horror and Sci-Fi movies. Also includes trailers and behind the scenes footage, hosted by my favorite Scream Queen "Jamie Lee Curtis". 55 minutes of scenes from 50 of Universal's greatest Horror films. There isn't a plot to this movie, but you more or less get the best scenes from such movies as ... Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Wolfman, The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Phantom of the Opera, Psycho, The Mummy's Hand, King Kong Vs. Godzilla, The Incredible Shrinking Man, Tarantula and that's just a few.

The line between horror and fairy tales is in the eye of the beholder. For me this movie belongs in the Horror genre even tho it's more of a musical.
