This sculpture surrounding the tear bottle is a celebration of the bonds that strengthen us. This tear bottle symbolizes the power of love that draws together family and friends in good times and bad and makes us stronger knowing we are surrounded by Love.
Two events in my life inspired this tear bottle design. We attended a wedding of some special friends two years ago. Instead of standing on a dais as the wedding ceremony was performed, this couple had their friends surround them in a circle holding hands as they committed their vows. They then proceeded to let their family and friends know how much it meant to them that they all came to support their marriage and how much that continued support would mean to them as they walked through life together as a married couple.
The second event was a tragic accident involving a dear friend. She was hit head on in a horrible car accident, she was terribly injured and barely survived. After the accident, during her miraculous recovery, her friends signed up to sit with her, play bridge with her, share memories and conversations, and just spend time. She was surrounded by the love of her family and friends continuously for many many months. She is now walking again, and you’d never know that she endured a slow painful year of recovery. She credits her friends, their attention, support and prayers for her miraculous recovery.
Through both events, one happy and one sad, I realized that our lives are completed by the circle of love provided by our loved ones, and thus was compelled to create this tear bottle. (Note: The people figures form a heart-shape as they hold hands around the tear bottle. An enameled red heart adorns the cap.) Laughter & tears forge a path to a deep and lasting friendship.
