A Poor Old Man Of Seventy ~ Traditional Fiddlers Green ~ John Conolly (V) Fields Of Athenry ~ Pete St. John (V) Flight Of Earls ~ Liam Reilly Lord Have Mercy On My Soul ~ Glenn Beson Sweet Forget-Me-Not ~ Bobby Newcomb Our Newfoundland Home (V) Saltwater Joys ~ Wayne Chaulk (V) Biographical Notes Ed Power is from Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and music has always been important in his life. As a young boy in a family of 14 children he would often lie awake at night listening to his father and mother, older siblings, his grandmother, and friends singing traditional Newfoundland/Irish songs well into the wee hours of the morning. Throughout those early years Ed longed for the time when he could join in a traditional kitchen party and appropriately titled his first CD Kitchen Party, with his own song, Our Newfoundland Home, as the opening track. Throughout his 30 years as a high school teacher and now into an active retirement, Ed still maintains his strong passion for those old favourites and has come to love many of the beautiful contemporary Newfoundland/Irish songs which he performs. He can often be found at Woody Island Resort in Placentia Bay where he entertains with his stories, songs and humour. |
