Biographical Notes

Barry was raised in Toronto, but his love of his Newfoundland roots has thrived since an early age. He started to sing along with his parents records at six and by the time he learned to play the guitar at the age of 14 he knew over a hundred songs. He started playing in bands when he was 20 and has not slowed down much since. Over the years, Barry has had a few of his own bands. He was a regular feature with Roy Payne and Joise Wilkinson in the Brampton, Ontario area, and has also appeared with A.Frank Willis and Eddie Coffey. His first recording was a single he wrote for his mother in 1990, White Rose Of Newfoundland, which received radio airplay in the Toronto area. In 2007, he released his first full length CD, Tears In Newfoundland. Barry now lives in Mount Pearl, NL, where he continues to sing and write songs about Newfoundland life and good old down-east country music.
