Dance Hall Girls (Ron Hynes) video

These dance hall girls they treat you fine,
They give you their bodies,
but you'll never reach their minds;
They'll fill you up with all their lipstick lines,
When they put you down some,
don't be surprised, don't be surprised.
It's just the way it always is here in Baltimore.

Well, I've held her mountains,
I've kissed her plains,
I've touched her sunshine, and I drank her rain;
And I've been so far, but then I broke too fast,
I thought I had a winner picked,
but I came in last, again.
It's just the way it always is here in Baltimore.

I must have chosen
the wrong season to come down,
I never realized they call this sacred ground;
My sense of time, well hell, I'm a week behind.

Well, I sent a letter home
but this all takes time, you know,
I wanna get some money,
oh, how I wanna go back home;
These dance hall girls sure know how
to make a man feel alone, so alone,
Is this the way it always is here in Baltimore?

I must have chosen
the wrong season to come down,
I never realized they call this sacred ground;
My sense of time, well hell, I'm a week behind.

They give you their bodies,
but you'll never reach their minds,
And they'll fill you up with
all their lipstick lines;
These dance hall girls all say
they can't stand to see a grown man cry,
It's just the way it always is here in Baltimore.
Oh, honey, is this the way
it always is here in Baltimore?
