Ol' Ireland (David Blackmore) video

A ship is waiting at the pier,
prepared to cross the foam,
With a saddened heart I go onboard
for some foreign land to roam;
I bid farewell to family and friends
I may never see no more,
For I'll ride this noble sailing ship
to some far off distant shore.

My thoughts are of ol' Ireland
and those days gone by,
Her moorlands and her meadows
where I played when just a boy;
Her mountain streams and river banks
I will never see no more,
For I'm riding this fair sailing ship
to some far off distant shore.

We sailed in through the Narrows
in St John's, Newfoundland,
I thought my eyes deceived me,
it felt like home again;
The people were so friendly,
and each one shook my hand,
No longer am I saddened,
I'm at home in Newfoundland.

My thoughts are of ol' Ireland
and those days gone by,
Her moorlands and her meadows
where I played when just a boy;
Her mountain streams and river banks
I will never see no more,
For I'm riding this fair sailing ship
to some far off distant shore.

Yes, my thoughts are of ol' Ireland
and those days gone by,
Her moorlands and her meadows
where I played when just a boy;
Her mountain streams and river banks
I will never see no more,
For I'm riding this fair sailing ship
to some far off distant shore.
For I'm riding this fair sailing ship
to some far off distant shore.
