Age In My Eyes (Eldred Mesher) video

With the sun slowly sinking behind the big hill,
My mind wanders back to a time;
When I was a young man on green hills I'd roam,
With my teenage sweetheart, so happy was I.

We'd stroll through the valleys and by the seashore,
Where softly the sea breezes blow;
Make love by the ocean like fond lovers do,
As waves from the ocean washed up on the shore.

But now all alone through this world I must roam,
Without you the sunshine is gone;
The years swiftly passing has stolen my youth,
There's age in my eyes, but my heart is still young.

I wandered today to that hillside once more,
Where we carved our names in a tree;
Where we held each other so long, long ago,
While birds sang their sweet song to you, dear, and me.

Before darkness gathers on my broken heart,
I'll take one last look at the spot;
Where we first embraced, dear, and I gave to you,
A small bunch of roses and forget-me-nots.

But now all alone through this world I must roam,
Without you the sunshine is gone;
The years swiftly passing has stolen my youth,
There's age in my eyes, but my heart is still young.
There's age in my eyes, but my heart is still young.
