Tender Hearts And Loving Hands

My grandmother was up every day
before the crack of dawn,
Doing things around their house
after the kids had gone;
My grandfather was off to work
every morning of his life,
This is how they made it through
as husband and wife.

He would do for her what he could
and she proudly took his name,
Two girls now have kids of their own,
they did just the same;
Pass it down through generations
with tender hearts and loving hands,
She fell in love years ago
and this is how she stands.

She will never forget him and the love that he had,
He had a tender heart, warm loving hands;
He was a good father and a church-going man,
She will never forget him and the love that they had.

My grandfather was a hard-working man
in love with a beautiful girl,
She always said, "He is the love of my life,"
but he's no longer in this world;
He was sixty-five when the good Man above
lowered down His hand,
Took him home to Heaven,
to the Promised Land.

She will never forget him and the love that they had,
He had a tender heart and warm loving hands;
He was a good father and a church-going man,
She will never forget him and the love that they had.

Grandma now is ninety-eight,
living in an old-age home,
She still loves him dearly,
you can hear it in her shaky tone;
She still remembers when they were young,
in love and holding hands,
Sitting there in her rocking chair,
she remembers what she can.

She will never forget him and the love that he had,
He had a tender heart, warm loving hands;
He was a good father and a church-going man,
She will never forget him and the love that they had.
She will never forget him and the love that they had.
