Santa Helped Me Cut A Christmas Tree

Santa helped me cut a Christmas tree,
But I can't tell my brother Jarge
'cause he'll make fun of me;
And younger brother Freddy
will make me lose my mind,
So I kept the story hidden all this time.

Last Christmas I went out to cut a tree,
'Twas there I spied old Santa
and his reindeers in the field;
He said hello and then let out a jolly Ho! Ho! Ho!
Then he up and showed me where to go.

He pointed high upon the mountainside,
To a single tree that nature
tried so desperately to hide;
He said it's all alone up there,
I'll help you bring it down,
It will bring goodwill to folks in your hometown.

Now Jarge is on the oil rigs
away out on the bay,
Freddy's in the trade school
and won't be home till May;
Now I can tell my story
without being ridiculed,
Or worse than that,
being called a silly fool.

Outside my door a tree lights up the night,
And the warmth it brought my home last year
has made my Christmas bright;
But I wonder if the folks will laugh
and shake their heads at me,
When I tell them Santa helped me cut a tree.

Now Jarge is on the oil rigs
away out on the bay,
Freddy's in the trade school
and won't be home till May;
Now I can tell my story
without being ridiculed,
Or worse than that,
being called a silly fool.
Or worse than that,
being called a silly fool.
