Mommy, won't you buy me that
pretty, pretty rag doll,
I know she's very lonely,
I could hear her call;
Oh, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy,
look how she cries for me,
That lonesome, pretty dolly
on the shelf I see.

Oh, if I could only only,
hold her in my arms,
She's so lovey-dovey,
just a bundle of joy;
Oh, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy,
please get her for me,
Then that pretty dolly
never lonely she will be.

Oh, if I could only only,
hold her in my arms,
She's so lovey-dovey,
just a bundle of joy;
Oh, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy,
please get her for me,
Then that pretty dolly
never lonely she will be.
Never lonely she will be.

From the Derby (Connecticut) Historical Organization 1956 Archive: April 1, Ansonia - "Staff Sgt Joseph LaRocco of Central Street wrote this year's Easter theme song for Narsarssuak Air Base, Greenland, called Eastertime. The flip side of his record is another song he wrote called Pretty Rag Doll. He has won awards for his music that specializes in Italian folk songs."

Originally recorded by Mary Lou Collins who lived on Angel Place off Alexander Street in St John's, NL (Side B, with Eastertime on Side A, 1955 45 RPM Single, Rodeo Records, Montreal, Quebec).

From the Inco Triangle, Copper Cliff, Ontario, Volume 27, Number 5, August, 1967:
Another headliner of the entertainment bill to play the Inco Quarter Century Club banquet, with attendance expected to top the 2,500 mark, will be the fast-rising young singing star, Mary Lou Collins. Already well-known by the Canadian television audience, this very attractive young lady with a voice the critics are raving about is booked for the Canadian National Exhibition show and for upcoming major specials with both Bob Hope and George Burns on United States television.

From the early 1960s and into the 1980s, Mary Lou Collins made numerous guest appearances on CBC and CTV Television shows such as Definition, Musical Showcase, The Bob McLean Show, Stars On Ice with Alex Trebec, O'Keefe Centre Presents, Bandwagon, The River Inn, The Wayne and Shuster Show, Take Thirty, and Rollin' On The River with Kenny Rogers.
