She sees the world through rose-coloured glasses,
Painted skies and graceful romances;
I see a world that's tired and scared
Of living on the edge too long;
Where does she get off telling me that
Love could save us all, save us all.

She takes my hand and leads me to nowhere town,
No matter where I stand it's always neutral ground;
In the cool of the evening blue,
I feel so tired and all alone;
Where does she get off telling me that
Love could save us all, save us all.

And it's day after day,
I keep hanging around, can you tell me why?
Night after night, yeah, I know I should leave,
But there's something in those eyes
That keeps me hanging on, I'm hypnotized,
It breaks my heart and I don't know why.

Tell me why, tell me why.

She sees the world through rose-coloured glasses,
Painted skies and graceful romances;
I see a world that's tired and scared
Of living on the edge too long;
Where does she get off telling me that
Love could save us all, save us all.

And it's day after day,
I keep hanging around, can you tell me why?
Night after night, yeah, I know I should leave,
But there's something, yeah, yeah....

Day after day, after day, after day,
And I don't know....
Day after day, after day, after day,
And I don't know why.

Recorded by Blue Radio (Outskirts, trk#2, 1987 CD, digitally recorded at McClear Place Studios in Toronto, produced by Terry Brown, and distributed by Rhino Records (in the US) and WEA International Inc (outside the US).

The video above features a live performance in October of 2012 by Alan Doyle, Bob Hallett, and Sean McCann of Great Big Sea joining Blue Rodeo on stage during Blue Rodeo's Silver Anniversary Show at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Ontario.

This song is Greg Keelor's interpretation of the life and death of David Anthony Kennedy, and the anguish he experienced growing up and bearing grief in the public eye, as did all the Kennedys.

From Wikipedia:
David Anthony Kennedy [1955-1984] - fourth of eleven children of Robert F Kennedy, and the first of four Kennedy grandchildren reaching adulthood to die prematurely - shortly before his 29th birthday. His death was attributed to an overdose of cocaine, Demerol, and Mellaril.
