War In Vietnam (Marion McCarthy) video

My daddy went to Vietnam
to fight for liberty,
He fought to keep his country safe
for folks like you and me;
He said goodbye to mommy
and then he sailed away,
To join those Special Forces
and wear the green beret.

Before he left he held me close
and this he said to me,
I'll send you back a souvenir
from that land across the sea;
He kept his word but I don't think
that it was daddy's plan,
That he would be the victim
of the war in Vietnam.

'Cause now a cross stands on the hillside,
It marks the spot where daddy lies;
Oh, I know we'll be together,
When we meet beyond the sky.

The colonel wrote a letter
and sent it to us here,
Your father asked before he died
to send a souvenir;
There is no greater souvenir
for one who was so brave,
Remember what he fought for
each time you see his grave.

For now a cross stands on the hillside,
It marks the spot where daddy lies;
Oh, I know we'll be together,
When we meet beyond the sky.
When we meet beyond the sky.
