Puppies And Toys (Bruce Moss) video

I was born and raised in a family of seven,
In a small town back on the island,
Supper was served at six,
and we always had plenty;
And it was hard to believe that children like me,
On the other side of the ocean,
Were dying from hunger and thirst
'cause they didn't have any.

But when it strikes home you have to believe it,
You realize when you see it,
That puppies and toys
to most kids are just dreams;
And when it strikes home you can't help crying,
When you know a child is dying,
While you and I are busy with our playthings.

As the years went by I grew to a man,
And had children of my own,
Two boys and a girl that meant the world to me;
And it hurt me more than it did before,
To see a young child crying,
Or to hear about the children overseas.

But when it strikes home you have to believe it,
You realize when you see it,
That puppies and toys
to most kids are just dreams;
And when it strikes home you can't help crying,
When you know a child is dying,
While you and I are busy with our playthings.

Now my family and me are living free,
In a small town back on the island,
Supper is served at six,
and we always have plenty;
And it's hard to believe
that children like mine,
On the other side of the ocean,
Are still dying from hunger and thirst
'cause they don't have any.

But when it strikes home you have to believe it,
You realize when you see it,
That puppies and toys
to most kids are just dreams;
And when it strikes home you can't help crying,
When you know a child is dying,
While you and I are busy with our playthings.

You see, puppies and toys
to me are just playthings.
