There've been so many, girls I have known,
I've seen so many cry, and still I wonder why;
Hey listen, little girl,
I see you walking down that street,
You're not all by yourself,
thought I'd knock me off my feet;
But, you'll never break, never break,
never break, never break,
This heart of stone, oh, no, no,
this heart of stone.

What's different about her? I don't really know,
No matter how I try, I just can't make her cry;
I can never break, never break,
never break, never break,
This heart of stone, oh, no, no, no,
this heart of stone now.

Don't keep on looking that same old way,
If you try acting sad, you'll only make me glad;
Hey listen, little girl,
you go on walking down that street,
I ain't got no love, I ain't the kind you'd meet;
But, you'll never break, never break,
never break, never break,
This heart of stone, oh, no, no,
this heart of stone now.
You'll never break this heart of stone.

####.... Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones ....####
This dramatic ballad about a womanizer who won't let one girl break his heart was originally recorded in Los Angeles by The Rolling Stones on the A-side of a single released in 1964 in the USA where it reached #19 in the music charts.

This variant was recorded by the Du-cats from Port-aux-Basques, NL on their self-titled album (The Du-cats, trk#2, 1966 LP, RCA Victor Canada International).

Notes: The Du-cats cut their first 45 rpm record in Boston: Hey Woman and Stay Awhile. In 2007, the Du-cats were honoured with the Stompin' Tom Award from the East Coast Music Association (ECMA). In 2009, the Du-cats were again honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Music Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
