Betty Malone (Fortune Bay Sons) video

In history books many stories are told,
Of the courage and valour of ladies of old;
But none was no braver than Betty Malone,
Who gave up her life for a son of her own.

She's a fisherman's lady who lives by the sea,
Her days and her nights are a sheer misery;
Six years her life has been filled with emotion,
For the man she had lost
on the dark, stormy ocean.

'Twas a dark, rainy day on the back of the island,
When her twelve-year old son
went out on the ocean;
She stands in the door
and looks out on the sea,
She sees a small boat and
she hears her son's plea.

She's a fisherman's lady who lives by the sea,
Her days and her nights are a sheer misery;
Six years her life has been filled with emotion,
For the man she had lost
on the dark, stormy ocean.

She ran to the rocks and jumped into the water,
As she swam for the boy,
she thought of his father;
With her last ounce of strength
she then pushed him ashore,
When the wave rolls around her
she'll see him no more.

She's a fisherman's lady who lives by the sea,
Her days and her nights are a sheer misery;
Six years her life has been filled with emotion,
For the man she had lost
on the dark, stormy ocean.

She's a fisherman's lady who lives by the sea,
Her days and her nights are a sheer misery;
Six years her life has been filled with emotion,
For the man she had lost
on the dark, stormy ocean.
