There are people who look for some inspiration,
When they sit down to make up a song;
But this song's a story all hands can relate to,
And I hope that you'll all sing along.
'Cause when I got up this morning I looked out the window,
Down by the side of the road;
There were six tame ducks on the lawn in a snow bank,
Sizin' up two old black crows.
Well, I said to meself now, the ducks must be starvin',
As they sat there admirin' the crows;
But they were pickin' and munchin' on two bags of garbage,
The neighbours threw out by the road.
I said, old Mother Nature she created some beauties,
But there's one bird that stands out you know;
And try as you may you got some job to killin',
That cursèd, old, flamin', black crow.
As I looked a bit closer I couldn't help notice,
The garbage they'd strewn all around;
There was Kleenex and cardboard and popcorn,
And, good Lord, two pieces of old Mary Brown.
There was two bags from Sobey's someone used for groceries,
With the contents all scattered about;
There were scraps of potatoes and teabags from Red Rose,
And an old empty bottle of Shout.
Good Lord, what a mess they had made on the pavement,
And it had to be cleaned up, you know;
But the crows are not hungry after eatin' the chicken,
And it sure didn't matter, the french fries were cold.
I said, Old Mother Nature she created some beauties,
But there's one bird that stands out you know;
And try as you may, you got some job to killin',
That cursèd, old, flamin', black crow.
There was bones there from fresh beef,
And fat cut from salt beef, and scattered all over the place;
And a saddleback gull that was wingin' and watchin',
Seemed to give 'em a whole lot of space.
Now the crow is a marvel, you got some job to starve him,
But he does seem a little too smart;
If you put out your garbage, you best keep it covered,
But you can bet your last dollar, he'll tear it apart.
I said, old Mother Nature she created some beauties,
But there's one bird that stands out you know;
And try as you may you got some job to killin',
That cursèd, old, flamin', black crow.
Yes, try as you may you got some job to killin',
That cursèd, old, flamin', black crow.
