Twenty-eight days in Voisey's Bay
is a long, long time, I know,
I talk to my wife every night
just to see what's on the go;
She tells me that she misses me
and that she loves me so,
I'll be counting down the days, my friend,
until the time turned around to go.

I got down here just a week ago,
and things are going fine,
I ran into some friends of mine
I hadn't seen in a long, long time;
They say that time in here goes slow,
but try to keep that off your mind,
Do your smiling when you see your name
on the list to go one more time.

Twenty-eight days in Voisey's Bay
is a long, long time, I know,
I talk to my wife every night
just to see what's on the go;
She tells me that she misses me
and that she loves me so,
I'll be counting down the days, my friend,
until the time turned around to go.

I met some guys that play and sing,
they even got a mandolin,
Three or four flat tops before I'm drunk,
and a fiddle that joins right in;
And I'll just slap the base along,
and Jimmy will play his 'cordene,
Saturday night here in Voisey's Bay
we're going to jam it out once again.

Twenty-eight days in Voisey's Bay
is a long, long time, I know,
I talk to my wife every night
just to see what's on the go;
She tells me that she misses me
and that she loves me so,
I'll be counting down the days, my friend,
until the time turned around to go.
Yes, I'll be counting down the days, my friend,
until the time turned around to go.

From Wikipedia:
Voisey's Bay Mine - is located in northern Labrador on a peninsula bordered to the north by Anaktalak Bay and to the south by Voisey's Bay, approximately 35 km southwest of Nain. A large nickel deposit was discovered in hills along the western shore of the bay in September 1993 by Archean Inc, a prospecting firm hired by Diamond Fields Resources Inc. This deposit is considered to be one of the most substantial mineral discoveries in Canada in the last 40 years and is estimated to contain 141 million tonnes at 1.6% nickel. Currently the mining rights for the Voisey's Bay nickel deposit belong to the Toronto-headquartered Vale Inco company, a subsidiary of Vale. Since the discovery of the Voisey's Bay deposit, efforts have been increased to find similar deposits in coastal Labrador. The approximately 450 workers at Voisey's Bay are flown in, via Voisey's Bay Aerodrome, from other communities in the province, and reside at a work camp while onsite. There are no current plans to build a permanent settlement at Voisey.
