Just beyond the mountain, my mind it wanders back,
As a lad in my early twenties, just a packsack on my back;
I dreamed of life and freedom, in my trapper's camp at night,
I knew every bend in the river and the wildlife by sight.
I dreamed of a mighty forest with timber reaching high,
And shared with old mother nature winter's cold and frosty night;
Just beyond the mountain, the trapper will go no more,
His cabins have long vanished from the forests of Labrador.
Just beyond the mountain, my mind it wanders back,
As a lad in my early twenties, just a packsack on my back;
Just beyond the mountain, the trapper will go no more,
His cabins have long vanished from the forests of Labrador.
His cabins have long vanished from the forests of Labrador.
