The Harbour Is Empty (Harry Martin) video

The harbour is empty, the ships have all gone,
Docks are deserted and full;
Mist from the mountain rolls down to the sea,
September is fast growing old.

Restless old feeling's returning to me,
It's moving inside of my soul;
Sounds of the summer have faded away,
The lonely old feeling takes hold.

I do believe that tomorrow will be,
That new day we hoped wouldn't come;
As I stand on the shore and look out to the sea,
And follow your ship on the run.

Yesterday's all but forgotten,
Though some memories still linger on;
The fairy tale stories were ours to live,
But some of the pages were gone.

It's sad to grow old when you still haven't lived,
Though it's happening all of the time;
When the places you've been
and the places you've seen,
Are still only dreams in your mind.

We search for the things that we long for,
And we long for the things we can't find;
When the fortunes we seek
seem so close to complete,
We suddenly leave them behind.
When the fortunes we seek
seem so close to complete,
We suddenly leave them behind.
