I've seen the mighty ocean slap the rugged shore,
I've seen the seagull flying and watched the eagle soar;
I've heard the wind blowing among the balsam fir,
Knowing this is part of Canada and I'm a part of her.
Now Canada's a mighty country of which we are a part,
There's no other quite like her, I love her with all my heart;
But there is one part of her that I love most of all,
It's the little isle of Newfoundland, can't you hear her homing call?
Her water's unpolluted and so is her air,
While one tastes like wine and the other's crystal clear;
There's peace and quiet wherever you roam,
Now is it any wonder I chose it for my home?
In the year of nineteen forty-nine we joined this nation grand,
In the tenth and final province, this isle of Newfoundland;
And though a mighty nation this Canada may be,
The little isle of Newfoundland is always home to me.
Her water's unpolluted and so is her air,
While one tastes like wine and the other's crystal clear;
There's peace and quiet wherever you roam,
And is it any wonder I chose it for my home?
I've been to the bank in Ontario with riches on every side,
Been seen on the prairie where the land is flat and wild;
I've been to the Maritimes with scenery so grand,
But none can take the place of my isle of Newfoundland.
Her water's unpolluted and so is her air,
While one tastes like wine and the other's crystal clear;
There's peace and quiet wherever you roam,
And is it any wonder I chose it for my home?
