{Spoken} Here's a song tonight for all the Newfies living
in a big city like T.O. or Montreal and all them places....
I left Newfoundland for the city T.O.,
Thinkin' everything was better than it was back home;
But after I got there and settled down,
There was somethin' missing from that, that ghost town.
I was a D. P. Newfie and I let it be known,
Everyone I talked with I told them I loved back home;
They said it must be a beautiful place,
That was when the tears rolled down my face.
Well, that girl I left waitin' behind,
She wanted to come with me but I wouldn't give her the time;
She wrote me today and she said that she loved me,
But I'd have to come back 'cause she wasn't leavin' Newfie.
I was a D. P. Newfie and I let it be known,
Everyone I talked with I told them I loved back home;
They said it must be a beautiful place,
That was when the tears rolled down my face.
So, seven-o-seven won't you do your stuff,
Put me back down where all the people are tough;
Take away this feelin' of a big lone city,
And I won't have to feel like a D. P. Newfie.
Take away this feelin' of a big lone city,
And I won't have to feel like a D. P. Newfie.
