Some Things I Cherish (Simani) video

We often hear tell of the good times we had,
Oh, well I remember when I was a lad;
But just to be honest should God strike me dead,
There were some things I cherished
and some things I dread.

Of all of the miseries I cringe at the thought,
Of the torture of all of the haircuts I got;
You could tell mother loved you,
just how much she cared,
By counting the notches she left in your hair.

Clippers and scissors what a terrible pair,
One for to snip it and one for to tear;
Yes, some things I cherish,
but those haircuts I dread,
Taking all but your top knot
close home to your head.

We often hear tell of the good times we had,
Oh, well I remember when I was a lad;
But just to be honest should God strike me dead,
There were some things I cherished
and some things I dread.

Now, I was no Gretzky when I went to school,
But to picket and puck I was nobody's fool;
But ninety-nine practiced that's why it's so good,
While me gran had me sawing
and cleavin' up wood.

When a rubber boot leak
brought you down with the flu,
Sure, dyin' was twice as much fun as the cure;
With spirits of nitre and senna tea brew,
Molasses and sulphur and kerosene, too.

Those old fashion winters you heard people say,
Are not like the mild ones we're gettin' today;
But I think the mild ones are better by far,
They save you the itching
from new worsted drawers.

We often hear tell of the good times we had,
Oh, well I remember when I was a lad;
The things I remember and cherish them all,
But some things I'd just as soon never recall.
Some things I cherished and some things I dread.
