It's well I remember a long time ago,
Before VCRs and TV;
On a cold winter's night 'round the Waterloo stove,
I would hear an accordion play.
When I grew older I went to a dance,
I picked up me girl on the way;
When night turned to day and the stars left the sky,
We could hear the accordion play.
We courted a year and she said she'd be mine,
We went to the altar in May;
And then after church to the fisherman's hall,
Just to hear the accordion play.
Now times they have changed, and I've kids of me own,
And the good times are changing each day;
Now they'll never sit 'round the Waterloo stove,
Just to hear the accordion play.
