Staying In Newfoundland (Silver Strings) video

When I was a young boy,
tried hard to understand,
Why my daddy went away
to the lumberin' woods each year;
But now I can see it, the word it is finally out,
That our little town would surely die
as more and more people move out.

Life is just a circle, we work hard every day,
And try to survive the hardships
that we meet along the way.

But the government they don't give
a damn why our people they go away,
They tell us they'll give us UIC
and welfare to help, they say;
For we don't need their handouts,
we came from a working clan,
Work is all we need, you see,
and we're stayin' in Newfoundland.

Life is just a circle, we work hard every day,
And try to survive the hardships
that we meet along the way.

This morn as I looked across the bay,
I could see the rising sun,
And can't afford a feast we had,
but work it must finally come;
I'm not gonna leave this land, you see,
it's time they understand,
Life it is hard and I know that
I'm goin' to stay here in Newfoundland.

Life is just a circle, we work hard every day,
And try to survive the hardships
that we meet along the way.
And try to survive the hardships
that we meet along the way.
