I think back in time when I was young,
Mom and Dad waving goodbye;
Standing at the gate of my Newfoundland home,
First time I saw my daddy cry.
It's been so long, I still think of home,
We were rich and yet we were poor;
Daddy worked so hard to keep our family fed,
Newfoundland I miss your shores.
I miss the Rock and the salt water air,
And the warm stove just beyond the door;
My mind goes back in time, I long for childhood days,
Newfoundland I miss your shores.
We can leave the island that we love so dear,
No matter where we roam;
One things for certain wherever we go,
Newfoundland is still our home.
Nothing takes the place of the sound of the sea,
Each day I miss it more and more;
I can hear it calling, come home, come on home,
Newfoundland I miss your shores.
I miss the Rock and the salt water air,
And the warm stove just beyond the door;
My mind goes back in time, I long for childhood days,
Newfoundland I miss your shores.
Newfoundland I miss your shores.
