The Place We Come From (Roustabout) video

The wind whips the smoke from the chimneys,
And the water all freezes like stone;
It's the way things are here in our homeland,
A home where you're never alone.
The weather can change in a heartbeat,
Three seasons can come in one day;
But if there is some place that's equal to this,
We can move without going away.

It's our home in the cold North Atlantic,
Where only the hardy reside;
Where the air is still clean and the people are full,
Of the spirit that helps us survive.
We're distinct and defy all the rest of the race,
Our ways to be scoffed at by some;
I don't know where we're goin'
but when we get there,
We'll be proud of the place we come from.

The sea has been our foundation,
For centuries we harvested cod;
Where we lived by our wits, few comforts indeed,
Just leaned on each other and God.
Now the little boats sit on the landwash,
Sentinels of a life long ago;
While we chart new waters in brand new ships,
T'ward a future so bright we are told.

It's our home in the cold North Atlantic,
Where only the hardy reside;
Where the air is still clean and the people are full,
Of the spirit that helps us survive.
We're distinct and defy all the rest of the race,
Our ways to be scoffed at by some;
I don't know where we're goin'
but when we get there,
We'll be proud of the place we come from.

Just can't believe all the stories,
How the grass grows greener elsewhere;
Can't see the attraction of those far off lands,
Where so many do live in despair.
So let's raise our glass to our own green hills,
To this piece of heaven on earth;
And be truly proud of the sea in our blood,
Our distinction, God given at birth.

It's our home in the cold North Atlantic,
Where only the hardy reside;
Where the air is still clean and the people are full,
Of the spirit that helps us survive.
We're distinct and defy all the rest of the race,
Our ways to be scoffed at by some;
I don't know where we're goin'
but when we get there,
We'll be proud of the place we come from.
I don't know where we're goin'
but when we get there,
We'll be proud of the place we come from.
