Newfie Blues (C. J. Cox)

When I woke up this morning to face another day,
Not feeling any better, Lord, than I did yesterday;
My heart was sad, I felt so bad, I didn't know what to do,
Lord, I know I've gone and got those doggone Newfie blues.

There's a lot of Newfies feelin' just like me,
Who wanna be back in Newfoundland with our friends and family;
We'll trust in God and pray for jobs, and when we get the news,
We'll all go back, go down to the sea, and drown the Newfie blues.

I've met a lot of people in my travels across this land,
I'm proud to say that I have shook a lot of friendly Newfie hands;
Sit down at their tables, talk about the fish an' brewis,
Lord, I know they've got them, too, those doggone Newfie blues.

There's a lot of Newfies feelin' just like me,
Who wanna be back in Newfoundland with our friends and family;
We'll trust in God and pray for jobs, and when we get the news,
We'll all go back, go down to the sea, and drown the Newfie blues.

I won't wait no longer for the work to start, my friends,
I'm packin' my old suitcase, whatever I can bring;
I tossed them in that old blue van like I always said I'd do,
I feel all down, I'm eastward bound, I got the Newfie blues.

There's a lot of Newfies feelin' just like me,
Who wanna be back in Newfoundland with our friends and family;
We'll trust in God and pray for jobs, and when we get the news,
We'll all go back, go down to the sea, and drown the Newfie blues.
We'll all go back, go down to the sea, and drown the Newfie blues.
