Banks Of Newfoundland (Joe West) video

There's an island off the East Coast,
Lots of songs have come from there,
From jigging cod to rubber boots,
And girls with silky hair;
Songs about the solid rock,
No price tags on the doors,
Stories about the little boats,
Missing from the shores.

They've written 'bout the folks back home,
And the girls they left behind,
Ise da bye that builds the boat,
The stomp it comes to mind;
Harry Hibbs he left his mark,
Along with Roy Payne,
The schooner out on the Banks,
Ike Jones the skipper's name.

The bottom line I have to say,
I know just where to start,
No matter where I travel,
The Rock is in my heart;
Newfoundland my island,
For her I proudly stand,
My mind goes back to when they fished,
The Banks of Newfoundland.

I listen to the songs they write,
And cry a little tear,
Reminisce about old times,
And friends I love so dear;
Neighbors there are neighbors,
Friends are there for sure,
On the rock I love so well,
Just off the Eastern Shore.

The bottom line I have to say,
I know just where to start,
No matter where I travel,
The Rock is in my heart;
Newfoundland my island,
For her I proudly stand,
My mind goes back to when they fished,
The Banks of Newfoundland.
My mind goes back to when they fished,
The Banks of Newfoundland.
