Woman Of The Island (Judy Brazil) video

All alone she stands,
staring at November through her window,
Seagulls calling at her door,
same old river running to the icy sea;
She's seen it all before,
felt the cold Atlantic winds a-blowing,
And the lines upon her brow
tell a story unknown to you and me.

She's had her days she says,
looking back now she's seen so many changes,
She remembers early sunrise
and the sound of a newborn baby's cry;
And she knows what it is to surrender
life and loving to the ocean,
For she was woman tried and true,
always ready and never asking why.

For she is woman,
woman of the Island,
Strong as the ocean,
solid as the rock in a raging storm;
She's our yesterday,
she's our tomorrow,
Woman of the Island,
in you our hopes can be reborn.

She's seen the hard times,
but the good times she says outweigh the bad:
Her quiet walk on Sunday evening,
and she can't forget the smell of new-mown hay,
And the boats at early morn,
their music gave her reason for believing.
Ah, she knows deep in her soul,
she wouldn't have it any other way.

The hills are whitened now.
Ah, there's something 'bout the newly-fallen snow.
Are those seagulls voices dying?
Is that river running just a bit too slow?
She's never felt this way before,
doesn't like to have the time to stop and wander,
In the November of her years,
she will not see herself just letting go.

For she is woman,
woman of the Island,
Strong as the ocean,
solid as the rock in a raging storm;
She's our yesterday,
she's our tomorrow,
Woman of the Island,
in you our hopes can be reborn.
in you our hopes can be reborn.
