Well, I quit my job on the mainland,
And I started heading back home;
I gave up those wide open spaces,
They say that the buffalo roam.
I hitchhiked all the way from Alberta,
I smiled as I passed by T.O.;
For soon I'd be back on the island,
With the people and the places I know.
Yes, it's good to be back on the island,
To be with your family and your friends;
Wheresoever you may roam, there's no place like home,
It's good to be on the island again.
Where fresh rivers run down from the mountain,
And wind through the forest of trees,
Flowing to meet the salt water,
And the fishermen that sail out to sea.
Where strangers are like needles in haystacks,
And a friend is truly a friend;
There's a feeling of pride that swells like a tide,
When you're back on the island again.
Yes, it's good to be back on the island,
To be with your family and your friends;
Wheresoever you may roam, there's no place like home,
It's good to be on the island again.
Wheresoever you may roam, there's no place like home,
It's good to be on the island again.
It's good to be on the island again.
