Well, I was swingin' and diggin',
Diggin' and swingin',
And I made myself a good livin';
Leavin' behind those iron mines,
No more swingin' or diggin'.

In the sixties the north was the place to go,
I hopped on a plane down in old T O;
Landed in Wabush in the ice and snow,
Month of February was forty below.

And I'm swingin' and diggin',
Diggin' and swingin',
And I made myself a good livin';
Leavin' behind those iron mines,
And no more swingin' or diggin'.

Well, I met my wife and I settled down,
And I raised a family just fine in town;
Church and school four to four,
Fun and games on the Labrador.

And I'm swingin' and diggin',
Diggin' and swingin',
And I made myself a good livin';
Leavin' behind those iron mines,
No more swingin' or diggin'.

Well, I worked the shifts, the nights and days,
Sundays and all the holidays;
Took a vacation a-once a year,
The company said I went, but the wife said where?

I was swingin' and diggin',
Diggin' and swingin',
And I made myself a good livin';
Leavin' behind those iron mines,
No more swingin' or diggin'.

Well, I built a cabin down the lake,
And on my days off in the rip I'd fish;
Boat and a motor and all my toys,
I'm off to the gather, meself and me boys.

I was swingin' and diggin',
Diggin' and swingin',
And I made myself a good livin';
Leavin' behind those iron mines,
No more swingin' or diggin'.

Well, the window is open and my time is in,
Loadin' up the truck for the island again;
Thanks a lot to the iron ore,
No more swingin' on the Labrador.

And I was swingin' and diggin',
Diggin' and swingin',
And I made myself a good livin';
Leavin' behind those iron mines,
No more swingin' or diggin'.

Yeah! Swingin' and diggin',
Diggin' and swingin',
And I made myself a good livin';
Leavin' behind those iron mines,
No more swingin' or diggin'.

Spoken: Let's bring me home!

From Wikipedia: Wabush is located in the southwest corner of Labrador, near the Quebec border. The region's livelihood is based on iron ore mining which can be traced to the 1950s when the Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOCC) constructed Labrador City and the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway to haul ore to the port of Sept-Îles, PQ, 575 km to the south. The adjacent Wabush Mines were established in the 1960s by another company, along with the town of Wabush and the Wabush Lake Railway which connects to the QNS&L. The area is also home to tremendous wilderness opportunities in a pristine state with little human settlement or development. Wilderness recreational opportunities in the Labrador West area include camping, fishing, hunting (particularly for caribou, black bear, and ptarmigan), hiking, boating, skiing, and snowmobiling.
