Come to western Labrador and celebrate,
We will reminisce about the early days;
For forty years we've mined the iron ore,
In the mining towns of western Labrador.

Well, the call went out for miners near and far:
Come to Labrador and mine the iron ore;
Construction of our towns did begin,
And men let their families then move in.

In the early days the bunkhouse was our home,
And the Snake Pit was a favourite place to go;
The whole town were at the Ash on Saturday night,
With our friends we'd dance through the night.

So, come to western Labrador and celebrate,
We will reminisce about the early days;
For forty years we've mined the iron ore,
In the mining towns of western Labrador.

And we mined the ore in Labrador.

We have young and old and we have pioneers,
We have seniors and we have Legionnaires,
Social clubs and sports teams that score,
For the twin towns of western Labrador.

Now the QNS&L and E.P.A.,
And Quebec Air brought everything our way;
There were no roads to take you in or out,
But now our Freedom Road
will take you north or south.

So, come to western Labrador and celebrate,
We will reminisce about the early days;
For forty years we've mined the iron ore,
In the mining towns of western Labrador.

And we mined the ore in Labrador.

As Wabush and Lab City we are known,
A place we are proud to call home;
We have big town advantages you see,
With small town appeal to you and me.

We have winters with scenes you can't buy,
And northern lights that brighten up our sky;
Our summers are warm with lots to do,
So come back home, we're waiting now for you.

So, come to western Labrador and celebrate,
We will reminisce about the early days;
For forty years we've mined the iron ore,
In the mining towns of western Labrador.

And we mined the ore in Labrador.

And we mined the ore in Labrador.

From Wikipedia: Labrador West - (2006 pop: 8,979) refers to a region in western Labrador in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador containing the twin towns of Labrador City and Wabush. The area is located in the southwest corner of Labrador, near the Quebec border. The region's livelihood is based on iron ore mining which can be traced to the 1950s when the Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOCC) constructed Labrador City and the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway to haul ore to the port of Sept-Îles, PQ, 575 km to the south. The adjacent Wabush Mines were established in the 1960s by another company, along with the town of Wabush and the Wabush Lake Railway which connects to the QNS&L. Labrador West is also home to tremendous wilderness opportunities in a pristine state with little human settlement or development. Wilderness recreational opportunities in the Labrador West area include camping, fishing, hunting (particularly for caribou, black bear, and ptarmigan), hiking, boating, skiing, and snowmobiling.

E.P.A. - Eastern Provincial Airway.
