As years pass by and we get older,
More and more I think of you;
Though far away we're still together,
Bonded by a love so true.
You gave me life and then you raised me,
Taught me what was right and wrong;
You'd pick me up when I had fallen,
And fight to keep me from all harm.
Mother when our days are over,
And we meet on that great shore;
Side by side we'll walk together,
And never part for evermore.
When I had hate, you'd show there's love,
When I was sad you'd show me joy;
When it was dark you'd show there's light,
You taught it was a sin to lie.
You'd read me stories from the bible,
Before I went to sleep each night;
You'd kiss my cheek and say you love me,
Assuring me every thing's all right.
Just to let you know, dear mother,
That I think of you every day;
And to tell you that I love you,
Even though you're far away.
Mother when our days are over,
And we meet on that great shore;
Side by side we'll walk together,
And never part for evermore.
