In my heart I have always wanted to see,
All the beauty of Newfoundland put here for me;
Having travelled around now on many a strand,
I'm convinced we should call this God's beautiful land.
Have you ever seen Trinity when morning is still?
Have you gazed on Placentia from old Castle Hill?
Have you seen Bay St. John with its game on the wing?
Have you seen Cape St. Mary's and heard the birds sing?
And the Man In The Mountain looks down on the vale,
While the Humber flows on past the old country trail;
Have you sailed past Cape John on a beautiful day,
And seen Mother Earth on her throne by the Bay?
Have you ever been up on old Signal Hill,
And looked down on St. John's while the city is still?
Have you sailed to Bell Island that gem in our crown?
Have you met the lovely people from Harbour Grace town?
Newfoundland, Newfoundland, the most beautiful place,
Where the mountains and the valleys have been touched by God's grace;
Where the ocean and the rivers and the lakes hold great store,
Where the ice flows and the wind blows off the great Labrador.
Have you seen Isle aux Bois off the Ferryland shore?
Have you seen the great icebergs that sail past our door?
Have you seen the giant whales in our bays by the score?
Have you seen the Northern Lights over great Labrador?
Have you seen Barry's Cove when the water is low?
You can see the old cannon from long, long ago,
And a horse on a stand in the midst of the sea.
You can see them out there from old Fleur de Lys.
Have you seen Fortune Harbour in Notre Dame Bay,
Where the devil sat down and played poker all day?
On top of the world in a place called Gros Morne,
You can see in the valley where beauty was born.
Newfoundland, Newfoundland, the most beautiful place,
Where the mountains and the valleys have been touched by God's grace;
Where the ocean and the rivers and the lakes hold great store,
Where the ice flows and the wind blows off the great Labrador.
Newfoundland, Newfoundland, Newfoundland,
Newfoundland, Newfoundland the beautiful.
