The Green Hills Of New Bay (Collected by MacEdward Leach)

The green hills of New Bay, though far, far away,
My heart is still yearning the green hills to stray;
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam,
My heart is in New Bay, my dear native home.

I know that in New Bay a dear mother prays,
Heavenly angels may guard me always;
And I know that she's longing one day with joy,
To embrace once again her dear wandering boy.

Her face, though it's wrinkled with many a long year,
Many a sorrow, and many a tear,
No face under heaven I long for to see,
No face under heaven is dearer to me.

The love of a sweetheart may sometimes prove true,
But ofttimes it changes the old for the new;
The love of a mother, the sweet leaving flame,
It changes never, it's forever the same.

The green hills of New Bay, though far, far away,
My heart is still yearning the green hills to stray;
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam,
My heart is in New Bay, my dear native home.
