Short Taken

Short taken, short taken, why must it be so,
That I am short taken wherever I go?
No matter the journey, there's one thing I know,
That I'll be short taken wherever I go.

I went to a hardware store early one day
To see all the tools they had on display;
As I went to purchase a saw that I need,
I was short taken so I had to leave.

Short taken, short taken, why must it be so,
That I am short taken wherever I go?
No matter the journey, there's one thing I know,
That I'll be short taken wherever I go.

I went salmon fishing, I went to Big Falls,
And I hooked me a big one in no time at all;
I nearly had him, but wouldn't you know,
That I was short taken so I let him go.

Short taken, short taken, why must it be so,
That I am short taken wherever I go?
No matter the journey, there's one thing I know,
That I'll be short taken wherever I go.

Last summer a camping trip we were to take,
We planned a great weekend out at Sheffield Lake;
But before we arrived at our summertime camp,
I was short taken, Lord, on the off ramp.

Short taken, short taken, why must it be so,
That I am short taken wherever I go?
No matter the journey, there's one thing I know,
That I'll be short taken wherever I go.

The wife and I went to a romantic place,
To a fine fancy restaurant just by Harbour Grace;
But before the red wine the waitress could pour,
I was short taken and ran for the door.

Short taken, short taken, why must it be so,
That I am short taken wherever I go?
No matter the journey, there's one thing I know,
That I'll be short taken wherever I go.

One thing I've learned well wherever you be,
Be sure that you bring with you lots of T.P.;
I don't have much time so I'll end this song,
For I'll be short taken before much too long.

Short taken, short taken, why must it be so,
That I am short taken wherever I go?
No matter the journey, there's one thing I know,
That I'll be short taken wherever I go.
