My mind wanders back to when I was a kid,
The fun that I had and the things that I did;
The hot summer days, the blue sky above,
I'm glad I grew up in a cove.
Our swimming pool was the beach and the sea,
Our ball park a field surrounded by trees;
The ponds that I fished, I truly do love,
I think God grew up in a cove.
The water laps gently, a fine summer breeze,
The long lazy summers you could do as you please;
The outport was home, the people were kind,
The memories will always remain in my mind;
I'm so glad I grew up in a cove,
I think God grew up in a cove.
I love to go back and see Newman's Cove,
The people, their faces, those smiles that I love;
My childhood memories are often relived,
By the love and support that they give.
The sun used to shine on a glistening sea,
And we were as happy as happy could be;
No stress and no preoblems, we couldn't get enough,
Of our freedom, our childhood, our cove.
The water laps gently, a fine summer breeze,
The long lazy summers you could do as you please;
The outport was home, the people were kind,
The memories will always remain in my mind;
I'm so glad I grew up in a cove,
I think God grew up in a cove.
I'm so glad I grew up in a cove,
I think God grew up in a cove.
