When just a child, I called her Rose, the flower of my heart,
But little did I know back then someday we'd have to part;
You grew up right before my eyes, the years went by so fast,
My life it has forever changed, I'm living in the past.
In a chapel by our homestead a young man waits inside,
He's waiting for my daughter, she is to be his bride;
As vows exchanged soon after, and tears soon made their way,
God did bless that joyous day I gave my Rose away.
Although the years have come and gone it seems like yesterday,
When I would hold you in my arms or sit and watch you play;
To hear you laugh, to see you smile, meant all the world to me,
Forever you will be my Rose, in my heart you'll always be.
In a chapel by our homestead a young man waits inside.
He's waiting for my daughter, she is to be his bride;
As vows exchanged soon after, and tears soon made their way,
God did bless that joyous day I gave my Rose away.
Yes, God did bless that joyous day I gave my Rose away.
