Wearing Of The Map

I'm the man with the map
Of Newfoundland upon my back,
It's there from morning, noon and night,
Till I hit the sack;
It's with me everywhere I go,
'Cause I want the whole world to know,
That I'm a Newfie, born and bred,
And I'm proud of that.

Everyone calls me
The Newfoundland Ambassador,
Though I don't preach politics
And my gee-tar's nine-tenths of the law;
I tell some jokes and sing a song,
I'll try to chase those blues along,
'Cause I'm a Newfie, born and bred,
And I'm proud of that.

I've travelled far, and I've travelled wide,
And those Newfie names I speak with pride,
Like Corner Brook, Stephenville, Buchans and Trinity,
Bonavista, Gander and Grand Falls,
Grand Bank, Placentia and that's not all,
There's still Cape Race and Codroy,
St. John's and St. Anthony.

I'm the man with the map
Of Newfoundland upon my back,
It's there from morning, noon and night,
Till I hit the sack;
It's with me everywhere I go,
'Cause I want the whole world to know,
That I'm a Newfie, born and bred,
And I'm proud of that.
Yes, I'm a Newfie, born and bred,
And I'm proud of that.
