If I was a boatman and had the best of vessels,
Dressed in the finest skipper garb with hooks and bells and tassels;
And then I'd take you in me arms and set things in motion,
And together we would see the world all from the rockin' ocean.
If I was a poet and me pen could stir your passion,
I'd loop and swirl a mess of words and court you in this fashion;
Then I'd compose and write and rhyme of you and my desire,
And make a pretty fortune of the things that you inspire.
Of all the fickle dreams I've held, time is wise and time will tell,
I would make them all come true, if someone showed me how;
I'd hold them all in high degree, to hell with all reality,
What do you think of me, what d'ya think of me now?
If I was a preacher, a Godly occupation,
My sermons would profess my love to all the congregation;
My prayers unto the holy One would only be for thee,
I'd worship at your altar for all eternity.
If I was a scientist and I could work invention,
I'd work physics and biology to serve your intention;
Then I'd stay up and calculate with heart and mind and body,
The equation for your beauty 'cause it's you I want to study.
Of all the fickle dreams I've held, time is wise and time will tell,
I would make them all come true, if someone showed me how;
I'd hold them all in high degree, to hell with all reality,
What do you think of me, what d'ya think of me now?
