I left my home in Newfoundland
Many years ago,
With my guitar and some down east songs
To do a country show;
I've been to many places
To far off foreign lands,
I'm the Singing Newfoundlander
From the Island Newfoundland.
I'm the Singing Newfoundlander
And I sing a happy song,
Tonight I'm on my way back home
To the place where I was born -
CORNER BROOK!
All my friends are waiting there
Just to shake my hand,
I'm the Singing Newfoundlander
From the Island Newfoundland.
Spoken:
I've sung about my island
In countries far and near,
On the Opry down in Nashville
I even have appeared;
I've been down to Australia
Poland and Japan,
I'm the Singing Newfoundlander
From the Island Newfoundland.
I'm the Singing Newfoundlander
And I sing a happy song,
Tonight I'm on my way back home
To the isle where I was born;
All my friends are waiting there
Just to shake my hand,
I'm the Singing Newfoundlander
From the Island Newfoundland.
Yes, the Singing Newfoundlander
Is going home to Newfoundland.
Recorded by Michael T. Wall (Down Home Records and Tapes, Montreal, 1974).
