I have witnessed many changes,
From his birth and through the years;
Now he's facing down his demons,
I can almost feel his fear.
As a child, he was different, guarded,
Whispers that kid's weird;
Ignorant of ignorance,
Innocent by tender years.
He's not listening anymore,
He's come out and locked the door;
He can't go back to where he's been,
No one cares to let him in.
A shining star among his peer group,
Adolescence premature;
Once a leader, now a leper,
How much will his soul endure?
I advise him, pray for guidance,
There you'll find an honest friend;
He replies, I live a lifestyle,
Even God Himself condemned.
He's not listening anymore,
He's come out and locked the door;
He can't go back to where he's been,
He stands alone, and there's your sin.
How I hate to see him suffer,
If I could, I'd take his place;
Then again, if it had been me,
I'd have never seen his face.
