Christmas Lights

Click Here for guitar tabs.

Church bells ringing, choir singing,
It's Christmas time again,
The time of year to bring good cheer
To warm the hearts of men;
Christmas lights, moonlight nights,
That light up city hall,
But Christmas lights are not the same
When you're far away from home.

Christmas lights don't seem the same
When you're far away from home,
The ones so dear are gone this year,
And so you're here all alone;
The lights will shine at Christmas time,
Don't matter when you roam,
But Christmas lights are not the same
When you're far away from home.

In memory, I go back again
To a Christmas long ago,
In midnight mass on Christmas Eve,
I see the candle glow;
A little chapel dimly lit,
I still see them today,
A tiny little island dear
In Bonavista Bay.

My childhood days passed all to soon,
And children leave their homes,
A boy, a girl, may roam the world
And seldom feel alone;
But when they see those Christmas lights,
The thoughts will turn to home,
But Christmas lights are not the same,
When you're far away from home.

Christmas lights don't seem the same
When you're far away from home,
The ones so dear are gone this year,
And so you're here all alone;
The lights will shine at Christmas time,
Don't matter when you roam,
But Christmas lights are not the same
When you're far away from home.

No, Christmas lights are not the same
When you're far away from home.
