Hazel, what a neat and beautiful poem. I'm going to set about building a special page displaying your poem and if there is someone (or someones) you would like it dedicated to please write me. As always, each page should have music so let us know your favorite song to play too. Thank you again Hazel.

Handy, Your German entry "from your web site" was interesting concerning car phones so I've added the below in English for our English speaking fans.
Handy of Bell Tones History:
The first in-car telephones, which were country wide usable, began since 1958. The devices were radio and quite large because they used vacuum tubes. Discussions were hand obtained and equipment prices were about 50% of the car price. Starting from 1985 there was the small cellular similar C-net in Germany. It made lower transmitting power possible of the telephones. Therefore there were also portable radio telephones in the size of a document suit-case starting from 1987.
Handy of Bell Tones:
By the introduction of surface covering digital portable radio nets (D-net, starting from approximately 1990 in Germany) could again be decreasing the necessary required battery performance of the mobile telephones and consciequently their housing size. 1992 introduced the first GSM abled mobile equipment. An usual name for the again re-introduced, handplate-large GSM Mobil telefone the word turned out to be "Handy" in German;, taken over the linguistic usage of German radio amateurs of the 1980 era from US military jargon. This article, or parts of this article, originates from Wikipedia and becomes licensed by the GNU FDL. Sincerely,
Handy of Bell Tones
Thanks for the Nice Dirt Road Words. It should make one think.

Dirt roads ... how wonderful the memories it stirs from my childhood in rural Mississippi. Yes, the roads are now paved but they will remain dirt roads in my mind and in my heart forever. Thanks for giving me such a wonderful view of (regrettably) times gone by. You know, even if the roads are paved, if we all took the time to be neighborly our country could still be just what you have revealed in these pictures.

Good morning Louie. To answer your question, I located a .org non-profit radio station that allows linking to their web broadcasting link. They really have beautiful music and you can locate their real web site at
EASY88.org. You may view the source code on our page to play this type of file transmission, then get their permission of use.

Dear Gene and Lois,
I really enjoyed your 'Dirt Roads' page...it brought back some great memories of my youth...the dust rising up around my feet...the smell of summer in my nostrils...the guinea wasp nest that I stepped on thinking it was a mushroom on a log....and people think that you couldn't travel fast down a dirt road..............
Thanks for the memories....made The Lord bless and keep you safe and happy.

I would like to tell you this is one of the best websites I have found. It is wonderful! I found it when a friend sent me "Dirt Roads As Read By Paul Havey". Boy! Does that reading hit home. I remember walking a dirt road from school, removing my shoes and the dust squishing up through my toes, what fun. The meaning behind it is so true. Also your photo galleries are wonderful. I watched the Grand Canyon, Lighthouses (I collect), and Ocean Views (love the ocean and beach) and they are terrific! Thanks for sharing your expertise and website with the rest of us. What a wonderful way to start off my day and my son's 5th b'day who starts school in just a couple days! This is a 'God-send' website for me with all I have been going through lately...I too, even at 34 remember those 'dirt' roads as I grew up on a farm and had plenty of the 'simple life.' This reminds me instantly of two things: My grandmother and her ways, and the song 'How beautiful' which was sung at my wedding..for it too talks of Christ walking a 'long dusty road.' Many thanks and God Bless!

GOOD MORNING TO YOU, GENE AND LOIS.
WE JUST VIEWED YOUR NEW SHOW "HOOD ORNAMENTS,". JOHN AND I GOT A REAL KICK OUT OF IT. I ENJOYED WATCHING HIM TRYING TO GUESS WHAT CARS THEY BELONGED TO AND WHAT YEAR. THE ONLY ONE I RECOGNIZED WAS THE PONTIAC. WE THINK SOME OF THEM WERE CUSTOM ADDITIONS.
NEAT MUSIC ON THAT SHOW, ALSO, GENE. I THINK I CAN STILL SEE PAT BOONE SINGING THAT. I KNOW SOMEONE WILL WRITE TO YOU IF I AM WRONG ABOUT THAT. ANY CORRECTIONS APPRECIATED.
I LOVE ALL THE COUNTRY WESTERN SONGS YOU HAVE PLAYING. IT IS NICE THAT WE CAN CLICK AND CHANGE THEM SO WE CAN LISTEN TO A VARIETY.
GENE, YOU HAVE COME A LONG, LONG WAY IN THE ALMOST THREE YEARS SINCE I FIRST FOUND A LINK TO YOU ON CAL'S GALLERY.
CONTINUED SUCCESS AND THANKS FOR A GREAT WEBSITE AND ALSO A GREAT FRIENDSHIP. LOVE TO YOU AND LOIS.
