These small creatures become a part of us;
We pamper them without much of a fuss.
We feed them and see to their needs;
We buy fancy collars and leads.
The best litter and boxes for our cats to use.
The great outdoors for the dogs refuse.
Cleaning up after them without complaint;
Sometimes, the smell could make you faint.
They damage the walls, furniture, and floors;
If our kids did that they would be shown the door.
We shower our pets with kisses and hugs
Even after they have peed on the rug.
The money we spend on food alone
Could keep us out of house and home.
When they depart we grieve for them;
It is like losing a very dear friend.
Their memories stay within our hearts and minds,
A part of our souls for the rest of time.
What dull and boring lives we would have until the end
If it was not for "Our Four Footed Friends."
